Finally, 0.99.2 is out. I still have a few tiny details to figure out before 1.0, though... *sigh* Anyway, please test it, and report bugs, wishes etc., you know the drill. :-) Note: I haven't included the contributed brushes and papers in this release, to keep the base distribution size small(ish); They are available seperately, though, and I recommend everyone to download them, as they increase the usability quite a bit!

Yup, I'm still alive, and the next release is right around the corner. I'll just verify that it works with the latest GTK and GIMP releases first, 'kay? :-)

Whee! Michael J. Hammel, of Graphics Muse fame and author of the Artists' Guide to the Gimp book (and companion site) is currently featuring the GIMPressionist! Run and check it out! It's a complete walk-through with lots of nice examples and screenshots.

Noah Davis sent me a collection of new papers for you all to have fun with. Thanks a lot! They are hereby added below, under Download. Just copy them to your GIMPressionist dir before doing "make install" and they should tag along with the rest. (Or you can copy them directly into your ~/.gimp/gimpressionist/Paper dir.)

Martin Weber sent me a nice collection of new brushes. Thanks a bunch, that's the spirit! :) I've added a link to them below in the Download section. Just untar them to a temp-dir and see the included README if you need installation instructions. ("cp *.pgm ~/.gimp/gimpressionist/Brushes/" should do.)

Matt Hodges sent me a mail that explains a linking problem which might occur under IRIX. A small patch is available. (If you get it to compile, you don't need it, though.) Thanks Matt.

Boy, have I fallen behind with these pages. However, I'm working on finishing up the last bits before hitting version 1.0, so please hang in there.. In the mean time, please give the new version 0.99.1 a good spanking, and report bugs to me. :-) Here's the latest CHANGELOG. The most obvious changes are in the Orientation Map Editor.

Finally, the big step towards 1.0 is out. The latest release, v0.99, is available from the Download section below! There are numerous changes and quite a few bugfixes, so if you've got an older version, it's highly recommended to upgrade.

I'm working heavily on a "Orientation map editor" at the moment. Here's a screenshot of it. It will allow the user to specify which direction to paint where. It will be included in the upcoming release, which will be out Really Soon Now (tm)! :-)

A new screenshot has been added (on the bottom of the screenshots page), demonstrating the vastly improved handling of alpha channels. This will be included in the upcoming release, scheduled sometimes next week. I've also decided to follow e.g. the GIMPs versioning system, and the next release will be 0.99.

OK, I've now updated the screenshots, so that they're up-to-date with the latest release.

Bah! I've been really falling behind on this, but at last I've managed to put together a new release. New features include adaptive stroke orientation, support for GBR files (native GIMP brushes), better support for layers with alpha channel, nicer Preview... I'm pondering redesigning the entire thing to work more closely with the GIMPs own brushes, patterns, etc. Suggestions wanted.
